IAPS is currently surveying all of its members as part of the Independent Schools Council annual census.
In September 2010, IAPS took a snapshot of this data in order to present a view on how pupil numbers were holding up for the start of the new academic year. The responses of 291 schools were used to create this data. Please bear in mind that the schools were asked to give an approximate figure as a percentage and as a result we do not yet have any raw numbers to work with.
However, the results indicate the pupil numbers are holding steady across the sector, with two-thirds of schools reporting pupil numbers either maintaining or increasing this year, compared to 2009-10.
The document below outlines these trends more fully.
