Yateley Manor Prep School (Hampshire) were the winners of the tournament hosted in the fabulous Wellington College Sports Centre, Crowthorne, Berkshire on Saturday 12 February 2011.
The number of schools who entered was a little disappointing but most important was the fact that all the boys and girls who did take part enjoyed the day and the standard of basketball was very high. The players all played with great sporting attitudes in a friendly atmosphere and a big crowd was there to witness the fun. Rokeby (Kingston) were the runners-up, Edge Grove (Hertfordshire) 3rd and Hall Grove (Surrey) 4th. Yateley Manor won all their games and played some superb defence throughout the tournament. Their Captain George Nye was voted the Most Valuable Player by the referees and scorekeepers who were very impressed by his passing, defence, attititude and shooting.
The 2012 Under 13 IAPS Basketball National Championships will be held on 28 January 2012, again hosted by Wellington College. If the tournament attracts too many entrants for one venue/day, the event will be regionalised.
